Signing the Rental Agreement is always exciting. You have a “new” house to explore, move into and make into your family’s home. But whether you’re a first time renter or someone who has rented more than once, you’re bound to have questions about how it works when you rent a house from Look At My Homes. We’ve put together a list of some of our most frequently asked questions and our answers.


How long is the typical rental agreement?

At Look At My Homes, we usually ask our renters to sign a 12 month lease. This protects us as well as our tenants, who will have their rent locked in for the full twelve months so that they can budget more easily and won’t have to face an unexpected rate increase during the year.

Are pets allowed in your rental homes?

This varies from property to property. We do allow pets in some homes, but there is a small, additional fee of $50 to cover potential damage done by pets and to cover the additional cleaning that will be needed when you move out. If you are considering a particular Look At My Homes property, please give us a call and we can let you know whether pets are permitted.

Can I paint, hang pictures on the walls, etc. in a rental home?

We ask that you contact us and ask before painting the walls a different color in your rental. In most cases, we are happy to let you paint unless you’ve chosen a particularly dark or unusual color that will be difficult to cover. You can hang pictures anywhere in the home, but when you do move out you will need to patch any holes made in the walls; otherwise, we will use part of your initial deposit to pay for the patching. If you are considering any other cosmetic changes, just give us and call to discuss it.

Is there an emergency maintenance number I can call if the furnace quits, the roof is leaking or there is some other emergency?

Who do I call for non-emergency maintenance issues? (Leaky faucets, etc.)

Please call Brian at 724-333-4114 or Joey at 724-714-9758. If you do not get an answer, leave a detailed message, including your name, phone number, the property address and the nature of the problem. Someone will get back to you as soon as possible.

Do you need a deposit for rental properties?

Yes, we ask that each renter pay a deposit of one month’s rent when signing a lease with Look At My Homes. This deposit will be returned to you at the end of the lease if there are no damages to the property.

Do I need to purchase renters’ insurance?

While there is no legal requirement that you purchase renters’ insurance, we strongly urge everyone renting a house from Look At My Homes to make the minimal investment. Renters’ insurance will protect you from losses in the event that there is a fire or other emergency while you are living in the house. You should purchase enough coverage to repair or replace any of your furnishings, clothing, personal belongings, etc.
Look At My Homes is not responsible for any personal property lost or damaged due to fire, flood or other disaster while you are renting. Our insurance covers loss to the structure and property, NOT what you own. Renters’ insurance is for YOUR protection.
